Proprietary blends explained
Founder of Clean Green Safe
If you’ve ever looked at a label and seen a list of ingredients with only one total weight beside them, you’ve met a proprietary blend. They’re common, and they can make it harder to know exactly what you’re taking.
What a proprietary blend is
A proprietary blend groups several ingredients under one name, with a single total weight for the whole blend. Each ingredient is named, but the amount of each one isn’t shown.
Why it matters for you
Without individual amounts, you can’t tell how much of each ingredient is in a serve. That also means you can’t compare an ingredient against its daily nutritional target, because only the total is shown. If you’re taking more than one product, it becomes harder still to know your combined intake.
How to spot one
Look for a blend name followed by a single total amount, such as “Focus Blend 500 mg”, with the ingredients listed underneath and no amounts of their own.
What full disclosure looks like
A fully disclosed label lists each active ingredient with its own amount per serve. That way you can read exactly how much of each nutrient you’re taking in a day. Where Clean Green Safe can’t find an amount on the label, it shows No data rather than guessing.
